POA @ Architectural Association

New Models is a lecture series that invites practitioners from different disciplines to discuss how their work can change the models around which society is organised. These conversations address how we can shift power structures, socio-economic forces and structural inequalities present in society today to give us new tools to rethink the world around us. For this series, Pride of Arabia wants to put forward new models for care. In the new COVID19 paradigm, what does it mean to have or give community care? How do precarious communities continue to mobilise and create support - what are the politics of care and how have our needs and values changed through the loss of some spaces and the creation of new ones? This conversation re-identifies our needs and values, while exploring new ways of expressing care.

An exploration into queer activism and resistance of patriarchal and colonial categorisations on our bodies in academia, society and beyond.

This video series features three performers who inspire POA’s community and were invited to perform at POA events. POA sat down with each of them to discuss their practice and how it relates to issues around identity, embodiment and what it means to be a womxn performer from the region.

POA @ The Mosaic Rooms

Pride of Arabia presents WRONG QUEENS, a celebration of wrong women – existing / manifesting loudly, in multiple formats and in full technicolour. This evening will consist of of stories and performance, including a video presentation of Esraa Warda’s incredible dancing and words of wisdom. Readings from Musa Al-Shadeedi’s Oum Kalthoum’s Sexuality will provide a unique perspective into the life of one of the most powerful women to ever come out of the region.
